AI features in MissingLettr

MissingLettr Team Updated by MissingLettr Team

Missinglettr's Drip Campaigns can use AI as much or as little as you like. This guide walks through three common setups: pick the one that matches how hands-on you want to be, then tweak from there.

Every option below is a combination of settings on Settings → Drip Campaigns → General and Settings → Drip Campaigns → AI Settings. Nothing here changes your existing campaigns: active and scheduled posts always stay as they are. These choices only affect new campaigns you create from now on.

Level 1 · Full AI

Let AI do the heavy lifting. Give it a URL and a goal, and it'll write the whole campaign for you: post copy, quotes, hashtags, and the sequence they're delivered in. Pick this if you want a full campaign written for you in one click, and you're happy to spend a minute editing the parts that don't quite sound like you.

What to set

Drip Campaigns → General → AI assistance : ON

Drip Campaigns → AI Settings → Campaign generation : Any of the four (We pick, Stay consistently visible, Build my reputation, Get more customers)

Drip Campaigns → General → Quotes : Use AI Generated quotes

Drip Campaigns → General → Hashtags : ON

What happens

- You paste a URL (or type a topic) and click Generate campaign.

- AI reads your content, writes as many posts as needed for the campaign, spread across a phase strategy that matches your goal (awareness → education → authority, or awareness → problem → solution, etc.).

- Each post gets an AI-written caption, a picked media, and 2–3 hashtag suggestions.

- You review, tweak anything you don't like, and hit Launch.

Level 2 · Balanced (some AI, but your voice stays the main voice)

Keep AI on for the mechanical bits (extracting quotes from your blog post, picking hashtags) but skip the goal-driven storytelling. Every post is a straightforward share of your content, in your words. Pick this if you've been burned by AI-written content that sounds off-brand, but you still want us to save you the time of hand-picking quotes and hashtags. Also a good choice for regulated industries where you can't ship AI-generated copy.

What to set

Drip Campaigns → General → AI assistance : ON

Drip Campaigns → AI Settings → Campaign generation : No Goal

Drip Campaigns → General → Quotes : Use quotes from your content

| Enable hashtag suggestions | Drip Campaigns → General → Hashtags | **On** (or off, your call) |

What happens

- You paste a URL and click Generate campaign.

- We pull real sentences from your blog post: no AI rewriting, no invented copy. What appears in each post is what's actually in your article.

- AI still helps with two small things: picking which sentences are the strongest quotes (they read like tweets, not run-ons), and suggesting hashtags.

- No phase timeline. Every post is a share, not a sales funnel step.

Level 3 · No AI at all

Old-school Drip Campaigns, exactly like they worked before we added AI. Nothing you type goes to any AI provider. Nothing gets rewritten. What's on the page is what came from your article. Pick this if you have a policy against sending customer content to third-party AI providers, or you simply prefer the deterministic, predictable output of the original engine. This is the "we won't touch your content with AI" mode.

What to set

Drip Campaigns → General → AI assistance : OFF

That's it. When you turn the master switch off, every AI-related setting on the platform is greyed out automatically — you can't accidentally leave one on. The whole AI Settings tab is disabled and can't be opened while this is off.

What happens

- You paste a URL and click Generate campaign.

- We extract sentences from your blog post using a purely mechanical process. No AI, no external service.

- Sentences get scored by simple rules (right length, complete sentence, no navigation chrome) and the top-N are used as your posts.

- Media is limited to: images you upload on the campaign entry page, images we scrape from your source URL, postcard links back to your source, or quote-bubble templates you've saved. No AI-picked stock photos.

- No AI hashtag suggestions. If you've set default hashtags in Settings, we use those; otherwise the post ships without hashtags.

- No prompt-based campaigns. You must paste a URL; a topic prompt like "our summer sale" is blocked, because writing a campaign from just a topic needs AI.

What happens to my existing campaigns when I change these settings?

Nothing. These settings only apply to new campaigns you create after you change them. Every active campaign keeps its goal, phase strategy, scheduled posts, and content exactly as they were. Every post already on your calendar fires as originally scheduled, with the content that was generated at launch.

The only place the new settings affect existing data is when you open a draft you'd saved before; since drafts haven't been launched yet, they re-render with your current settings when you reopen them. If you had a draft with a goal set and you've since turned AI off, the draft's goal will collapse to "No goal" when you reopen it. Turn AI back on to restore access to the goal picker.

Common questions

Can I mix modes? Level 1 for some campaigns, Level 3 for others?

Yes, the settings above are the defaults. On any individual campaign, you can override the goal, media source, and quote source in the sidebar while you're editing. So a workspace configured for Level 3 can still occasionally use AI for one campaign, just by picking a goal before hitting Launch.

Does turning AI off mean I can't create campaigns at all?

No. Campaigns keep working; you just can't use topic prompts (URL only), and the content is what's actually in your source URL rather than AI-rewritten. Level 3 is a fully-functional workflow, just with less automation.

What if my workspace doesn't have AI configured at all?

If your admin hasn't connected an AI provider (talk to your workspace owner if you're not sure), the master AI switch is effectively forced off regardless of what you set. You'll get the Level 3 experience automatically. There's no way to enable AI without a configured provider.

Where do I see this master AI switch?

Settings → Drip Campaigns → General → the top-left card, above the Quotes settings. It's a checkbox labelled "Use AI in campaign generation."
